It's that back-to-school feeling.  New books.  New pencils.  New backpacks.

What were your favorite things to read in school?  Did you ever get in trouble for reading under your desk (when, you know, you were supposed to be looking at the blackboard)?  I sure did.  That's how librarians are made :-)

Storm damage at the Abbeville Library

The Abbeville Library suffered some severe storm damage Thursday evening.  As many of you know, we have suffered from leaks (and lost books due to damage) at numerous times through the past few years.  Thursday's storm, however, was like nothing we'd dealt with before. 

Though we did lose numerous items (some juvenile non-fiction and some of our novels for teens), we are well on our way to getting the building dry and ready to reopen. 

We hope to reopen for regular business on Tuesday, August 14.  Of course, we'll waive any overdue fines you may have accumulated during our closure.
